Johnson's Baby Shower Launch

"Sa unang sandali, sa bawat sandali, ikaw lang."
(Johnson's Baby Mission Statement)

Back with my first blogger event courtesy of Nuffnang, it was held last 3rd of November at Manila Intercontinental Hotel in Makati around lunch time. Food is fine, but I hardly enjoyed since I was so overwhelmed seeing bloggers for the first time in flesh, it was like seeing a celebrity, I was stars trucked hee hee!
so star trucked... I only manage to take pictures of Phepot & Fedz back, I was so shy...
The event was hosted lively by Tricia Chiongbian and started with introduction of J&J’s main man Juan Carlos Garcia who share a piece of his fatherhood experience and introduce to all the Johnson’s Baby World of Firsts with theme “Unang Tibok, Unang Galaw, Unang Haplos”.
The Launch was also joined by very pregnant and sexy moms like Ria Tanjuatco Trillo with her third pregnancy, Lexi Schulze in her second, Marielle Santos Po in her Buena mano and Akiko Thompsons, but tle latter was not around. The ladies share their experiences in pregnancy, how one can stand “paglilihi” phase and motherhood as general.
The last part of the event was a game for three single ladies (not mother yet) where they experience a make-believe child care from bathing to dressing up a baby, oh nothing to worry no child was drowned since they only bathe a doll hee hee!
The best part of it, we got to take home some goodies, a basket full of J&J products and some souvenir tokens from Akiko and Marielle’s Baby Shower.

I had a great time and thanks to Nuffnang and Johnson’s Baby.

Buying Medical Things

I am planning to go in Bambang one of this days to buy some medical stuffs like digital thermometer and blood pressure gadget thing, we need those always ready in the house since we have a child that needs some temperature monitoring and two oldies in the house for some blood pressure monitoring too.

Bambang here in the Philippines is the best place in buying medical things, store their offer much less cost for hospital beds, scrub set, surgical gloves and other hospital things. I remember being there for the first time years ago when I accompany a friend to buy medical scrubs, we are trying to find some good one then in cotton fabric and good designs which she will bring with her in Canada where she got hired as a nurse.

That was almost four years ago, and now she is here again for a vacation I wonder if she still kept those six sets we bought or it if she had manage to buy medical scrubs online, but if she asks me to accompany her again in Bambang for some sale hunting why not it will be fun too.

Happy Halloween and Little Fears

Halloween is almost here, how cute are those kids in costumes and it will be fun to dress up my Levi with those vampire or monster costumes and I just remember Costume Party is out, Cosplay is in hee hee!

As a I mentioned I love to dress up my son with those little cute costumes, but the thing is, besides being expensive, he is quite frighten on a lot unfamiliar things to him right now. I had read somewhere that at age of 21st month children start to develop some frights on things and after a "root cause analysis" (yes that deep hmm..) I remember a few weeks ago when he screams out of nowhere because a spider drop and crawl on his arms maybe that is the incident that risen his fear on weird things around him. Another one is the cockroaches he stops, runaway or change direction unlike before he chases and tries to pick it up (its yucky!).

I am not sure if he is learning the right thing, but right now I am contented that is he not fond of those insects and a little worried that this may affect his playful nature.

And since he seems agitated on all costumes I tried on him we just settle on visiting some Halloween displays, maybe next year when is ready we will try on a spooky costumes, but for now only these...

The Violet and Green T-Rex known as BARNEY

I can never think of a dinosour as cute as Barney, a carnivorous Tyrannosaurus Rex who loves a glass of milk with peanut butter and jelly sandwich hee hee!

Lots of children loves him including my son who dance in the tune of "Elephant! Elephant!" and sway in "I love you, you love me..."

Here are some of the lyrics of our fave Barney songs.

"I Love You"
i love you
you love me
were a happy family
with a great big hug
and a kiss from me 2 you
wont you say you love me 2
i love you

"The Elephant Song"
Elephant, elephant, elephant, elephant.
She's big and friendly (Elephant!)
Wrinkled and gray (Elephant!)
With her great big feet better get out of the way of the Elephant (Elephant!)
Elephant, elephant, elephant, elephant.
The ground it shakes (Elephant!)
Everytime she walks (Elephant!)
And she sounds like a trumpet, whenever she talks (elephant sound)
Every sound in the jungle, the elephant hears
With her floppy king-sized elephant ears
Got a trunk for a nose as long as a hose

Loans and Hospital Services

It has been a long for me... as with my announcement days before of my new WAHM life, I started doing work at home last Tuesday and it was quite okay, but I also run some errands for my hubby, pay his loans and contributions on Social Security System (SSS) and Pagibig Funds (HMDF) and I also need to go on my yearly monitoring checkup for thyroid and breast things.

It was pleasing though tiring to finally got to accomplish these things and I thank that SSS and Pagibig got some good and kind people now though Pagibig system are still not as updated as of what SSS got right now I was still pleasing that they are all accommodating.

I also got a chance to compare hospital service since we transfer I need to find a much nearer hospital to have my medical check up and I must say Makati Med not only upgraded their facility, but the service as well. I felt that the doctors got a real care for their patient. Sorry Madocs though you took care of me and my son the last time we are there, but I really felt the difference on how they treat their patients, as they say with TLC, 9 points for MMC!

Finally.... WAHM Almost.

Wohah! It has been a while since my last update, but slowly this coming days I will be more and more active again, finally after some persuasions and a lot of courage I finally got to be a Work At home Mom or WAHM yes! My company allowed me to work at home (with free laptop!) provided that I deliver what they require and just send everything through email. Though they still ask me to come to the office from time to time, but still I was already free from a daily routine of office days. Yipee!

Though there are still some setbacks like my monthly pay slimmed down to 60% from what I use to receive, no holiday pay, no leave but looking in the brighter side I still got to keep our health cards, Insurance and the company handles my SSS, Pagibig, PHIC and Tax remittances which pretty less of a burden to me.

Now my son got to have me every time he needs me (almost...), now I personally bathe him, feed him and play with him a lot.

Sweet Good Nights

Being a first time mom I always thought having a baby is no joke and I prove myself correct, even though I stock-up bags and bottles of clothing, alcohol, diapers, etectera etcetera still I missed to consider a lot and that includes sleepless nights.

As our oldies say it was normal for a baby to cry a lot at night and I doubt it, but then who I am to contradict them and so everynight MIL would wrap him up in full with cap and to top it all with bigkis (baby binder, use more like a belt and belly-button protection) plus "manzanilla' (oil-base chamomile) to prevent colic. From then up to 5 am he would give me this face.

But not until we meet our pedia who told us not wrap him too much since it was not that cold in Manila and that manzanilla maybe the cause of his discomfort. That afternoon we tried to do what the doctors advice, warm sponge bath, less clothing and no manzanilla and it works Yipeee!

As months pass we discover more things to lessen his fussing and so first time moms try my lucky 8 tips for your angels heavenly night, solely based on my experience, it might work for you too.

1.Before it strikes 6 pm, give infant a warm sponge bath or a half warm bath for babies who starts to crawl and walk specially during summer.

2. If you live in a tropical country like ours specifically Manila area please don't wrap babies to much. They are cold if their hands, feet, nose, ears and tummy feels cold.
3. For colic lie them on your lap in his stomach and a little patting on the back to release the gas. For more calming effect have some oil base eucalyptus or manzanilla, but please dont apply directly on baby's skin it will irritate them more, just put a few drops on their cloths or something near to them where they can smell it. Its calming effect is on the aroma.
4. Do check their nappies, sometimes diaper rash or the diaper itself irritates them. Opt for lampin (cloth diaper) for few hours, dust some cornstarch powder on their back and diapers area for added comfort.
5. They love a lot of cuddling, touch and kisses, plus do mix some hush lullaby for angelic sleep.

6. TV and lights off please, specially for toddlers it will make them realize that dark = night = sleep time.
7. Train them to sleep on their own, from sleeping on your chest, to huddling on his father's armpit to just sleeping by himself and with Pekto (name of his stuffed toy). This will slowly give you back the late night news habit you had before hee hee!
8. Do say a goodnight prayer to Papa Jesus with them. This will serve as their first lesson for gratitude and as for you add this "So help me God, to put this child to sleep".

Have a good night sleep! Sweet Dreams!

Sleep is one of the most important factors in releasing growth hormones, most especially for very young babies. While your baby sleeps, her little body produces 3x more growth hormones.

The good news is there is a way to promote better sleep for your baby: through a consistent nightly bedtime routine.

How Will I Be A Mindful Parent?

"The greatest gift to give your child is yourself." - Everyday Blessings: The Inner Work of Mindful Parenting by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Myla Kabat-Zinn

The above sentence cough my attention early last 7th of July 2009 while reading the Lifestyle Parenting section of a broadsheet, and since I really got no time to read that morning I just take note of the author and the article and take note to find it on the net for some reading later that day. It was Titled Are You A Mindful Parent? Roots and Wings by Cathy Babao-Guballa.

I am "bagito" (amateur) when it comes to parenting and I try to learn it day by day with the help of my son, and everyday seems to be an examination day specially now that he is in naughty stage aww! Armed with big scream and made-up cry which he mustered successfully in getting what he wants owh! He is really getting a bit bratty these days and fright strikes me that I may no longer cope with his continuous learning in Bachelor of Brattiness. I carefully choose the kind of discipline to impose, a scoop of diplomacy and a sprinkle of spanking, but sometimes a big serving of spanking is more likely served since my string is short that I tend to lose quickly on virtue of patience and who would not every time he throws his toys on our TV set or better yet to his playmates.

I sometimes think if how will I raise him, should I be strict since at this early he is showing signs of a future frequent trip in principal's office, or should I loosen up and have the tons of patience to instill in him right values and conducts. Right now it is my dilemma and reading Ms. Cathy's article I find the book "Everyday Blessings: The Inner Work of Mindful Parenting" a must-read one which somehow can help me unravel the tricks and trade of parenting. Better head-off to the nearest bookstore this weekend, need to buy the book.

Bed Talk

Is your bed big enough? My answer is a big no! Oh it had been a great mistake not to realize this back then when are buying stuffs to fill our apartment, but off course how will I know then that having a kid will surely demote my husband from bed down onto the floor and this made him a "floor manager" as what he fondly joke. And now we are in hunt for a larger one good thing I hit upon this site that offers wide array of bed frames and this one caught my attention StabLBase Ultimate Bed Frame with desirable features

•Extra long 76" side rails
•9 Legs with rug rollers
•7 1/2" Height with rug rollers
•No nuts, no bolts, no tools needed for assembly.
•Wedge lock design.

It will surely fit our need and our budget, surprisingly they offer free shipping and no sales tax at all.

Let Your Little Heart Break A Little

Lyrics of That’s The Story of Love

You’ve got to give a little take a little
And let your poor heart break a little.
That’s the story of that’s the glory of love.
You’ve got to laugh a little cry a little
Until the clouds roll by a little
That’s the story of that’s the glory of love.

As long as there’s the two of us
We’ve got the world and all its charms.
And when the world is through with us

We’ve got each other’s arms.
You’ve got to win a little lose a little
Yes and alwayshave blues a little.
That’s the story of that’s the glory of love.
That’s the story of that’s the glory of love.

I love this song, you can hear me humming it sometimes specially when I’m in the fine mood, but not last night. I sung my levi to sleep with a heavy heart, he had experience his first heartache or I must say first deep disappointment.

Our Didi just left five days ago to find a greener pasture and at young age I know he was wondering why he hasn’t been showing up to play basketball or “taguan” (hide and seek) with him. He is always excited when hearing a motorcycle pass-by and head quick to the door, suppose to welcome his Didi and it will took him few seconds there to finally realize it was not him and resume playing, but last night was different.

We are about to sleep, him on the side and nibbling a milk bottle when my brother came to use the motorcycle, as the engine start he instantly stood up round-eyed and called “Di! Di! Di” and advance to the window to see if indeed it was him. His frustration came when his tito called him up to cheer him, but his mood shifted instead, he stayed on the position longer as if expecting my brother to transform as his Didi until I came and scoop him up. He stared at me as if asking, I told him Didi is far, but soon we will ride the airplane and be with him in Singapore for Christmas. I am not sure if he understands me, but maybe he felt an assurance from my voice that he just kissed me as he usually do and place his cheek on my shoulder.

He slept on my chest as usual, while I hum him... “You’ve got to give a little take a little, and let your poor heart break a little.... la la la...."

Missing You....

Two years and 10 months
Two more months and it's already our Paper Anniversary....
Two am we woke-up to round a new phase in our life.
Short of Two days before our wedding date, we parted from that buzzing airport....
Two hours I've waited teary-eyed sitting on that floor by the corner waiting for your departure...

Yes, it takes two to tango
But I must enjoy the tango all myself right now
Selflessly for our levi's welfare.

It may take more that two months before I can hug you again
But I really hope it won't take too long
A year will make me sick...
Two years will make me crazy,
Two decades, oh! Just kill me!

I miss you.

Memories of Pregnancy

Time really flies fast, would you imagine? I had been two years since I experience the fang of morning sickness and uncontrollable vomiting ughh! But then it all paid off having a baby is the most wondrous thing happen to me.
I also remember the fun of shopping, who would not love shopping? I used to go straight on infant section back then always trying to find a great find for my baby boy, from mittens to cribs and feeding bottles, I was always hunting for something cute and useful for my baby.
Parenting forums is also one of my addiction then, you will surely find a lot of useful information in from these forums like how to take care of your new baby, what baby furniture is necessary or even emotional guidance from other members who had experience what I am going through then.
It makes me smile remembering those times especially those moments where from nowhere you will find yourself craving for something really cold and sweet in the middle of the night. My husband thinks I am insane and just trying to give him a hard time then, but then how he would understand it all he can ever do is get-up and go to the nearest ice cream parlor.

My Finds and Eastwood City

Last Friday I had the privilege to have my WAH or Work At Home its one perk from our company and since I only have to be visibly online on the afternoon I manage to do some side trips on Eastwood firstly to claim a prize and look for new things.
And yes I have seen a lot of new things in the place, it has been almost two and half since I had been to Eastwood City and I must say the place got even better after, more place to eat plus more buildings and more people.

And one of the best things is that I have some good finds that morning from various malls I pass while hoping from one MRT station to the other here are some of it.

A swimsuit for my boy since its already summer and we have some scheduled water splash trips might as well give him a macho image as a start, a red and white stripe trunks for my Levi. I got it on 50% off for only a 100php more or less $2.

Gambling From Bulacan to Vegas

Girls on my family specially on my mother side loves to play cards and do betting. I grew up knowing the mechanics of some card games like Pares-Pares (Pairings), lucky 9, Pusoy or Pusoy Dos (more like Poker), Tong-its and 41. Our community are very much open to not-so-legal betting like Ending (winning combination is from 00 to 99 and winning number is based on the last points in a basketball game), Queteng (Filipino betting game with three draws daily), Bingo and Lotto.

Back then in Bulacan inside our family compound,  every weekend after lunch the whole afternoon is spent in a card game by  Aunts and older cousins where real money is used for betting, but those are merely just for fun and only small amount are at stake.

Those are the days, right now those moments only happen once or twice a year since some of us are already in Manila and some even migrated in some states in US, but as to say a gambler will always be a gambler. My Mom and Aunts still manage to do betting by playing Bingo and Lotto and it has been an addiction to them even my cousins and Aunt in US you can see some of their pictures above in their constant trip in Las Vegas to play Slots and Casino. I wonder if one of them already knew about online casino, I will bet for sure one of this days they will discover and maybe some through this article.
So just maybe you want to try some internet casino try this list of best online casinos.

Wish I can still some more of it various colors like red or white, but our place is too small, hubby promise me that he will make sure someday when we got our own place it will have a little garden.

    Philippine 2010 Election Guide

Posted of My other blogs too My Simple Life andMy Life

At Exactly 25 days from now every Filipino will exercise our rights to elect national leaders and help us God to choose the one who is less corrupt, at least conscientious and economically efficient (to the country and not on their own pockets) future public officials.

2010 May Election is another history which will ink permanently in our books, may it be in good or bad point we will soon know. Since our voting procedure will evolve from manual writing of names and one-by-one counting of ballots to computerize voting involving the very much controversial PCOS machine. These aims for fast voting process, fast tallying in seconds and fast proclamation of winners.

What is PCOS machine? It is a counting machine or Precinct Count Optical Scanner so to say, I had been searching the net to find out tips on how to manipulate it este! use it, but I can't find all I gather is that  voters only involvement on this machine is feeding the ballot on it and make sure that it accepts your vote and the rest will be taken care of by PCOS technicians aka board of election inspector. They say that certain data and information should be kept in confidential for the sake of security, I really hope those codes and passwords won't leak out and PCOS software are hack-free to ensure CLEAN and HONEST.

What if a brownout occurs on May 10? Comelec ensure that there is a back-up batteries that can supply power to PCOS machine for up to 16 hours.

Since our responsibility is to choose the rightful person for the public official position I might as well share with you some guidelines I had seen on the net from Commission On Elections (COMELEC)

    1. The voter shall, using a ballot secrecy folder and the marking pen provided by the COMELEC, fill his ballot by fully shading the oval beside the names of the candidates and political party participating in the party list system of representation of his choice.
    2. The voter shall then approach the PC0S machine; insert his ballot in the ballot entry slot and wait until the ballot is dropped into the ballot box. The Board of Election Inspector  shall monitor the PCOS screen to make sure that the ballot was successfully accepted. Thereafter, the voter shall return the ballot secrecy folder and marking pen to the chairman.
    3. The chairman shall apply indelible ink at the base and extending to the cuticle of the right forefinger nail of the voter, or any other nail if there be no forefinger nail.
    4. The voter shall affix his thumb mark on the corresponding space (beside his/her name) in the computerized voter’s list.
    5. The voter shall then leave the polling place.
    Click the picture to enlarge
    As added Precaution please note the following;
    - Check your precinct and sequence numbers on a list at the voting place days before the election to avoid hassle during election day. You can also check your precinct on COMELEC's online Registration Verification just click on the link.
-Comelec deletes names of voters who have not voted for two consecutive elections.
-Bring extra Valid Identification Card with picture and signature just in case problem arise during validation.
-Be very extra careful in marking your ballot since COMELEC issue exact number of ballot on each specific precincts. This means that you cannot commit mistake in markings or your vote will not be counted. These ballots contain bar-codes which are unique for each precinct and Ultraviolet Markings to identify fraud ones.
-Cellphones and cameras are not allowed inside the precinct.

    Cheap but Chick Glasses

I had been wearing eyeglasses since college, 12 years equal to 10 eyeglasses and I must say all are pretty pricey. And now one of my daily glasses was about to retire and since I am now a mom and need to budget a lot of things another signature glasses is no longer practical for me to have. Good thing I came across Eric's Review of Zenni Optical on his site and the catch I found this (above picture) only $12.95 and it will be just half the price if I will order only the frame.
